Good day to you! Hope your week is going well! I am so glad you are with us today on day 23 of our 12 Week Home Organization Overhaul. I am going to change it up a bit today. I thought we would be ready for our fridges but I was wrong. I would like to work on the junk drawer. Am I the only one that has one of these (or maybe 2 🙂 )? This drawer is so out of control! Half the time I cannot even get it open the other half the time I cannot get it closed. Let’s tackle it!
Today, I am just going to pull the garbage can over by the drawer for easy disposal of trash!
- Take everything out!
- Wipe out the inside of the drawer.
- Get rid of all the unnecessary items! Remember: throw away, give away, put away. I am thinking most of our things accumulated in this drawer will be trash. Usually the things that do not have a place end up in the junk drawer.
- Only put back the items that belong. It might behoove you to get a drawer organizer. It makes things a bit easier to organize. I also use containers to store smaller items like paper clips, thumbtacks, etc. I use tic tac containers, altoid tins, and the like. I have a serious container fetish so I collect containers of all sorts and most of the time they are just laying around or stored until that perfect time I might need them. (I do not recommend this bad habit or condone this behavior 🙂 ) Here is a pic of my containers:
- Label where things need to go in your junk drawer organizer. This is a great help to little hands and big hands alike.
Tip of the Day: If you find yourself getting behind, that is OK! Home Organization is a life long process. Don’t quit. Just keep doing a little bit every day. Some days you may not get to the assignment but do not throw up your arms and give up. Just keep on keeping on. You can do it. Some times life just gets in the way (I spent 4 hours working on our taxes last night. I get that!) I myself am a little bit behind, but I will not give up! We must keep moving forward! I want my home to a blessing to those that live here :)!
Have a great day! Blessings!
