The 12 Week Home Organization Overhaul~Day 7

January 13, 2015 by admin

Welcome back to the 12 Week Home Organization Overhaul! I am so excited to have you join us!  I want to say thank you to all the comments. They are so encouraging to me and keep me motivated! I appreciate it greatly! Some days it is so easy to just not do it, but with support and encouragement from others we can do this!

We are on day 2 of our living rooms or family rooms. Today, we are going to conquer any areas that are being overtaken by toys and or games. That is pretty much my whole house. 🙂  This may take a couple days as my kids have taken over pretty much all of the entertainment center. Remember, baby steps! The12 Week Home Organization Overhaul Day 7

Take the most overrun area and pull everything out. I had to do a lot of sorting. So, if you need to put in some upbeat music or a movie to distract the kiddos and dig in.

Remember, 3 piles…throw away, give away, or put away.

Here are some organizational pointers:

  • Use containers to store like items. (Clear Steralite shoebox containers work fabulous I usually buy them at Target because their lds are flat and more easily stackable. I have also found that the transparent colored school boxes work great too for smaller items.)
  • Baskets work great for storing things out in the open, if you lack cabinets and drawers.
  • If cost is an issue and you have an over abundance of time and diaper boxes you could make some great containers. Here is the link…http://designsbymke.blogspot.com/2012/01/lined-canvas-diaper-box.html

Here is what mine look like:
