Good Monday! I hope your weekend was full of relaxation and some refueling for the new week! Today we are on Day 6 and starting week 2 of our 12 Week Home Organization Overhaul. We are going to jump into our living rooms.
I do want to caveat this day by saying, some of us do not have a formal living room and separate family room. So, we want to work on our most used living space whether it be the family room or an all purpose living room. The reason I chose the living room is because it is the first thing you walk into in my apartment. I want it to be welcoming and comfortable not only for my guests but for my family as well.
Everyone’s home is set up differently so there maybe some projects that you might have to tweak to fit your home. For instance, my entertainment center takes up a whole wall with several cabinets and cubbies (with lots of “stuff” shoved in them), while your t.v. may hang on the wall. You may have to find a cluttered hotspot and organize that instead. That is ok just keep moving forward! Remember that elephant…one bite at a time. You can do it!
Today’s assignment is to go through all your entertainment. This is a great time to do some spiritual purging as well, as we all know there are movies and music that are defiling our homes.
With the age of streaming, I have found that having a lot of movies on hand is not really necessary. As a matter of fact, I rarely buy movies anymore. We are in an age of instant access to a lot of entertainment. I did keep a lot of my old Veggie Tales on VHS and Disney, but I also found a lot of duplicates.
The same rules apply….if you haven’t watched it recently get rid of it! If you shouldn’t be watching it….get rid of it!
I keep a lot of my CDs and DVDs in the book style sleeves but I have so many that are just stacked in a little boxes (I know bad, bad). Consequently, I have a ton of empty dvd cases. Does anyone have a great idea on what to do with these? Let me know.
Let’s get to work! Hope you have a blessed day! Let me know how it goes.
