I love Fall. It is my favorite season, but November is my absolute favorite month! I love when the remnant of Fall meets the onset of Winter. The smell and crispness of the air and the evidence seen of human life through the exhale of every breath brings a rejuvenating sensation of life. The warmth and comfort of home brings a longing for a hot tea, comfy blanket, and a good book (or if you are like me my Kindle with a plethora of books).
The month of November is full of all my favorites.
The surrounding landscape is flooded with my favorite colors, orange, brown, and red.
Two of my favorite people celebrate their anniversary. Happy 42nd anniversary to my mom and dad!
It’s the season for my favorite clothing items, scarves and vests.
My favorite shopping day with some of my favorite people, Mom, Aunt Linda, and Brandy!
It is time to break out my favorite music much to my husband’s displeasure.
I get to eat my favorite dessert, which is pumpki
n pie, without looking crazy and I get it instead of birthday cake, as my birthday is this month too.
Not only is it my birthday month, but we also celebrate my favorite holiday….Thanksgiving!
I think I was destined to love Thanksgiving, as I was born on Thanksgiving and get to celebrate them on the same day every so many years. Who else gets to eat all the mashed potatoes and gravy you want, finish it off with pumpkin pie, and watch the pure joy of my kids swinging at a pinata and unrolling a gigantic tape ball full of goodies.
With the added craziness of our remodel and still unpacking our apartment, I wanted to be intentional of enjoying my favorite season instead of letting it slip through my fingers and waking up and it be Christmas. The first thing I did was take vacation time for the entire week of Thanksgiving. I also want to do a daily blog posting of the 30 Days of Thanksgiving. We have made Thanksgiving one day we c
elebrate which is fabulous, but really it should be an attitude of our hearts. I want this month of all my favorites to be one that prepares my heart for the season we celebrate the birth of the Son of God.
To start let’s define the word thanksgiving. According to the Webster’s Dictionary, it is the act of giving thanks or a prayer expressing gratitude. Let’s follow this trail. Gratitude means thankfulness. The act of e
xpressing gratitude is being grateful which means thankful or appreciative. Hope that helps give a better idea of what is truly thanksgiving.
Every day we will have a verse to focus and meditate on during the day. It will relate in some way, shape, or form to the thing that we are thankful for. There may even be an activity attached to the day. I would love to hear your ideas and thoughts as we travel this road of Thanksgiving.
Today’s verse will be our theme verse for the entire month. Myhope and plan is to memorize it and recite it everyday. Meditate on this verse today and we will be back tomorrow to jump in!
“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.” Psalm 26:7
