To start off today’s post on thanksgiving, I want to say Happy Anniversary to my mom and dad! They have been such a great support system to me through every season in my life! God has truly blessed me by giving me great parents!
Let’s review our theme verse:
Psalm 26: 7– “That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.”
In order to truly have a heart of thanksgiving, we must recognize the ultimate gift we have been given! Our verse for today is…..
1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, which giveth us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I am, above all else, thankful for my salvation.God saved me. From what you may ask. Death. Our ultimate enemy is Death. But it has been conquered on the cross by the ultimate sacrifice. Here is the good news wrapped up in two little verses: 1 Corinthians 15: 3b, 4, ” …how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
He alone was the substitute for me. When I was the one who deserved death. He physically died. He was dead. They buried him. He rose again on the third day AND He is still alive! Thus, victorious over death and if Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, he has given us victory over death as well.
He has conquered death by raising from the dead! Death has been swallowed up in victory! (1 Cor. 15:54) Paul tells us in Romans(6:5), “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”
Now, I can say, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
Death will stand before the righteous Judge and will be cast into the lake of fire! (Rev. 20:14) That is VICTORY!
Today for our 30 Days of Thanksgiving activity we will sing the hymn “Victory in Jesus” (one of my favorites 🙂 ) If you are not familiar with this hymn here is a link for you to sing along with the lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM7QdisT2Ls
Let’s give thanks to the Lord today because He has given us victory!
Blessings! Walking in Victory!
