WOW! It is a little hard to believe that summer is right here. No longer around the corner, but staring us in the face. I have to admit, it snuck up on me.
Every year I post the Do Summer Big Challenge as a way to hold myself accountable to get out the
re and make great summer memories with my kids. This helps to keep my mind focused on “do”-ing the fun stuff that summers should be made of, instead of blinking and it is time for back-to-school.
One of my children’s favorite things to do is the school lunches. It is kind of funny. They actually count down the days until they can eat at the public schools. Oh the excitement for a homeschooler! 🙂 Well, today was that day and they hit both breakfast and lunch. It is very nice now that they are old enough to walk on their own and do not need the mommy escort. WHoo Hoo! It also means less dishes! That is worth a celebration.
Our summers are usually full because the month of July is packed every week with Bible Camp for all of us. My husband is gracious enough to hold down the fort as we minister to hundreds of kids in so many different ways. And although camp is a huge memory maker for us. I love to get the kids out and away from electronics and just have fun and enjoy the summer months. Unlike our public school counterparts, we continue our schooling through the summer for a couple hours a day much to my children’s demise :).
This week for our DO SUMMER BIG CHALLENGE, as per my daughter, we spent a “leisurely” afternoon perusing around downtown Coeur d’Alene. We walked around the world’s largest floating boardwalk, stopped in for a Hudson’s cheeseburger, and window shopped our way back to our car. Although the weather was not the nicest or the warmest, we had a nice afternoon of hanging out with friends and one another.
As you are looking into the next couple months here are some things to be looking for around your community.
- Community days/parades
- Library Reading programs
- Free lunch at the public schools for kids 18 and under
- Regal Summer Movie Festival https://www.regmovies.com/movies/summer-movie-express
For those of you in the Post Falls area here is a free event on Father’s Day:
Let’s make this the best DO SUMMER BIG CHALLENGE EVER!
Blessings!
