Our summer has been crazy busy and instead of slowing down, I feel like it is picking up speed. We have had such a full summer! By full I mean we have done so many activities we have never done before. Many things I always said we would do, but just never got around to it. We have also had a lot of “extra” things going on that have created busyness. Most of the kids have continued strong with their schooling. The whole month of July I was shuttling kids back and forth every week to camp. Plus, in the midst of normal work, we are in the process of going through a total remodel of the apartment complex we manage which brings many contractors, inspectors, and engineers. But now the rubber meets the road….we have received our 30 day notice for relocation, now we have to get serious about packing to completely move out for three weeks, relocate, and move back in. Thankfully, in the midst of are full summer, I have been purging and packing.
This weeks DO SUMMER BIG CHALLENGE is a bit different for us. We are headed to Family Camp where the kids spent their summer attending and serving. They are so very excited! My 5 year old is beside herself that she gets to be a camper now! It’s interesting that this has come full circle! I have never attended the Family Camp as a camper. I grew up attending and serving at this very same camp and now I get to go back with all six of my kiddos. It’s kind of an emotional moment for me.
Although, we are going to Family Camp we have had lots of fun activities this week! We stepped out of our comfort zone and met some families of the friends of our teenage girls. These are friends they have met up at camp, but live about an hour away from us. They invited us to spend the day with them at their lake property. We said yes and headed over yesterday after I got off work. We had so much fun! We met some great people with great kids! It was encouraging to see that our children are gravitating to families that are like-minded!
There were 4 other families and we had a total of 27 children! That is amazing! Everyone of my kids had someone to play with. We swam, went tubing, knee boarding, and just had a blast! What a time of fellowship! Here is the cool thing….3 of those families will be at Family Camp. How fun to continue getting to know these great families. God has given us just what we needed and we look forward to a weekend of fun and refreshment!
Summer is coming to an end, but it is not too late to get out there and make some memories! Join us in the fun!
