DO SUMMER BIG CHALLENGE Week 4
Crazy that today is the last day of June. Half way through 2015, seems like time has traveled the speed of light and we are doing warp speed in a time machine. I look back on the first six months and it seems to be a blur. But this summer has been crazy fun! We have loaded our summer with summertime dos instead of summertime blues! My kids have shown a true attitude of thankfulness and gratitude for all the “fun stuff” we have done.
Last week’s challenge, we took to an extreme. We went to our free movie in the park, Vacation Bible School with a free BBQ dinner, and we took the kids to a free splash pad. The kids went to a Summer movie festival (not free, but cheap) and they have been eating free breakfast and free lunch at our local public school. They have been busy with all kinds of “fun stuff” all the while, doing schoolwork as well.
This week’s challenge will be fun for kids of all ages, but especially for the older ones. Surprise them with a trip to the beach……at night! This was great! I packed all the kids swim suits, beach towels, and floaties in the Excursion and we headed for church (evening service). After service, we loaded up and headed to the beach. (An idea that came to me after the fact was using glow sticks.) It was fabulous! We swam until almost 10 pm. The only reason we left is because one had to use the restroom and we were not at a beach with facilities. 🙁 When we were on our way home the kids were filled with excitement and lots of thank yous for our adventure. That put a smile on my face!
This week we celebrate the greatest country! The Fourth of July is always packed with fun community events. Everything from parades to fireworks. Get out there and see what is going on. It may just surprise you, you might have fun! 🙂 If being around a lot of people is not your idea of fun….think outside of the box! Start a family Fourth of July tradition.
Have fun this week and have a safe Fourth!
