Summer is already here in North Idaho. We actually broke a heat record from 1931 yesterday with high 90’s. We usually do not get real summer weather until July, but I am not complaining. My goals this summer have changed a bit from the past summers. I actually have goals this summer :). Normally, we just go day to day trying to survive the heat and being cooped up in our little apartment. But not this year! I am tired of being the mom that has housework to do and yada, yada, yada. Throwing out all excuses this summer and we are going to DO SUMMER! (Thank you Jon Acuff for the motivation and idea! Although, his idea is for honing your skills as a writer. I want to hone my skills as a mama! http://acuff.me/2015/06/are-you-ready-to-do-summer/ ) And not only that, we are going to DO IT BIG! I want to be the mom that says yes, not “no, not today” with all kinds of excuses.
Are you that mom? I always envisioned myself to be the mom that was the fun mom, not the naysayer. Not sure what happened to me. But I am breaking out of that! I want to enjoy my kids this summer. I want them to have fun, like summer should be! How about you? Are you in? Are you ready to join me on this journey of “fun-ness” (:) pretty sure that is not a word). We are bustin’ free from the no’s! And findin’ freedom in the yes’s! Join us on the DO SUMMER BIG CHALLENGE. Each week we will post a challenge for all you mamas out there. I would love to hear about your adventures, your thoughts, and all the excuses that flood your mind. Let’s make this a summer to remember for our kids and for us as mamas!
Our local school districts are out of school for the summer, but I know that there are schools out there that are still in session. Some of you may year round school like us. But it doesn’t matter! No excuses! Let’s DO SUMMER BIG! We only have 12 weeks. You can do anything for 12 weeks, right?!
DO SUMMER BIG CHALLENGE Week One: TAKE A HIKE! This week’s challenge is to find a local hiking trail nearby. Do some exploring! Take some pictures! I have found that I have a couple of my kids that LOVE to take pictures and have quite an eye for it. If you do not have a digital device they can use, pick up some disposable camera. Have fun!
If you have any fun and cheap ideas let me know in the comments! Let’s put our creative minds together and let’s make some memories!
