Hello…Is it me you’re looking for? (Yes that is an ol’ Lionel Richie song 🙂 )
Anyone who knows me will appreciate that song from the jukebox! 😉
Just thought I would drop in and give you some updates of our journey. It is amazing how fast time seems to be speeding by. Here we are, already hanging on to the last bit of April. The older I get the faster time moves.
Our life has been full! We have started some new adventures and are waiting with anticipation for others. Even within our constants there have been some changes. But through it all God is our faithful rock! I am so very thankful that in the midst of change, The God of the Universe does NOT! He continues to be be faithful, despite my unfaithfulness.
In October, I set on a new journey that I thought I would never do again. I went back to teaching. But this teaching has a twist. I do it from the comforts of home in the wee morning hours. AND yes, even while I am still in my pajamas. I teach Chinese children English as a second language and am thoroughly enjoying it. I never thought I would enjoy teaching again, but God has shown me otherwise. During the winter I was waking up at 2:30 am and teaching from 3 am until 6 am. The hours were difficult, but worth it. By the time February rolled around I was counting down the days until Daylight Savings time to bump everything up an hour. Now I have a much more sustainable schedule as I am up at 4 am and teach 4:30 am to 7 am. I love seeing those smiles first thing in the morning. In January, God opened doors at my church for women’s ministry. I have been teaching anywhere from 15 to 20 teen and ladies every Friday. Our first session we studied Biblical Womanhood and now we are working through Proverbs 31. It has been very exciting to see hearts and homes transformed through the Word of God. All the while I am still lecturing at Pursue (the ladies Bible study I have been involved in for about 14 years). This year we have gone through 1st and 2nd Peter and are now coming to the end of 1st Corinthians. I stand in awe of God’s Word and the truths that he has been teaching me. It truly is amazing to see the truth come alive within context of the whole book. God is doing a huge work in my heart that digs deep into the depths of the nitty gritty where I hide the lies and half truths I try to justify with blips of scripture verses.
Life at our apartments has been a little discombobulated as we have been migrating all of our hard files to an online based software. It has brought many frustrations and lots of time through trial and error. It has changed some of our protocol and it has required some extra hours on my part, but we are working through the kinks and things are starting to go much smoother. Â Once everything is in place and we have developed a normal routine, I am sure things will be much more efficient.
We are excited for Spring around here as rain has been coming in an overabundance. We all have cabin fever and are chomping at the bit. The sun is kindly making an appearance more often and we are ding all we can to get outside. As a matter of fact, I am basking in the sweet spring sunshine right this moment. It feels so good! We are anxiously awaiting camping season!!! YAY! We are itching to get out and enjoy our favorite past time.
We are in the midst of retreat season at the camp we are heavily involved in so we have made several trips north as my teens are serving as dishwashers and I have served as a cook. We are anxiously planning out our summer camp season and look forward to the month of July serving together. Our 13 year old son is preparing to go on his first back woods back packing camp. He is extremely excited and mom is a little nervous, but I am sure he will come back with amazing memories!
That brings me to our 16 year old. She is in the midst of a lot of transitions, but all very exciting. She is taking a class for her certification as a CNA. We are anxiously preparing for this big step, but look forward to watching the Light of Jesus shine through this young lady and the lives she will touch. She is also preparing to be a Summer Missionary and every thing that goes with that (writing letters, raising support, filling her schedule for the summer months).
Of course, the littles just continue to get bigger and I look and wonder where the time has gone. Our youngest just turned 7…CRAZY!!! This season of no babies or toddlers is strange, but I am enjoying every minute. It just seems so quickly that my life drastically changed. I always wonder when things will get back to normal, but the exciting part is…..every day brings a new normal!
We are anxiously awaiting camping season!!! YAY! We are itching to get out and enjoy our favorite past time.
With everything that is going on, blogging has taken a bit of a backseat. It has been something that I feel God just won’t let me let go of. Not sure why, but He continues to bring it to the forefront of my thinking. I am hoping that now that things are settling maybe I will make the time to write. I appreciate all of you who have encouraged me along the way and have kept checking in. THANK YOU so much! It has meant very much to me.
Blessings to all of you! Enjoy your day!
