What is lurking under your bed? Today, for our home organization assignment we are going to clean out from underneath our beds. But before we do….is your bed made?
The space under your bed can be a huge asset if used properly, so let’s get it cleaned out and organized. Grab your 3 boxes for elimination and organization–throw away, give away, and put away, and let’s go!
- Pull everything out from underneath your bed– I mean everything!
- Vacuum it out!
- Put the necessary items back.
Tip of the day: Living in small quarters, I have learned to use every inch of storage space that I can, including under beds! If your bed is close to the floor, consider investing in risers. I use a variation of storage containers under my beds. They make them in all shapes and sizes. It really depends on how far off the floor your bed is. Take some measurements and invest in some Rubbermaid or Steralite containers.
I label them with a Sharpie pen (BOX A, B, C, etc.). I write down what is in each container and I file it away (you can use a recipe box with 3 x 5 index cards or go digital– I LOVE Evernote!). When you need something, you just look it up in your file and go right to the correct storage container. It works fabulously! Saves time and frustration.
The items I store under my bed are my seasonal clothing, extra sheets for my bed, gift bags and tissue paper, fabric, and other items that are not needed all the time. The key is to know what is in every container! Put the containers you might use more often closer to the outer edges. Good luck today! I am excited to hear how it went and how you feel about your new organization method.
