Another week down in our 12 Week Home Organization Overhaul! This week has gone by incredibly fast! I hope your week was fruitful when it comes to your home organization habits. My hope is that home organization does become a habit and work into a lifestyle. My heart longs for a home of peace, rest, refuge, and blessing to my family. I hope that is your heart’s desire as well.
- Walk through all the areas we have done and pick up things and put everything where it belongs.
- Do a quick clean out of the fridge today when cleaning up after your lightest meal.
- Clear any hot spots that have collected clutter over the week.
- Is your bed made?
We are still working in a kid’s room today. I thought I might be able to finish in a week….not so much. But today will be a light day as far as effort, but it could be a fight. The bed for a teenager is a sacred thing. I have been trying to get my girls to make their bed for years. My younger kids do great if I remind them. Let’s instill this great habit in our children.
Your assignment for today:
- Strip the beds
- Change the sheets
- Show your child how to make their bed
- Time them. Show them it does not take a lot of time and effort.
Tip of the day: I have learned, that the best way to be successful is to make it as easy as possible. A top sheet and a comforter are all that is necessary. If they need an extra blanket for warmth, it does not have to be made into the bed. With my boys, I actually made my own comforter by cutting a warm blanket and sewing it in between a camo top with a sheet on the bottom. Easy and fast to make their bed. No top sheet needed! And they all match.
This weekend I am taking a road trip with all my bible study leader sisters to Seattle. Whoo Hoo! Can you say IKEA! Every organizers dream. I am hoping to pick up some new comforters for my teen girls to help motivate them to make their beds. We will see if this actually works. 🙂
Do you live by an IKEA? What are some of your favorite finds from IKEA? Would love to hear your tricks and tips!
Hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend with your family.
